Betty Jane Jensen

Betty was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on December 26, 1922. Her father was a railroad auditor and her mother was a housewife. The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska while Betty was still a child. Betty graduated from Benson High School.

Betty married Paul Lavern Jensen on June 6, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple had four children: Ellen Marie (Bingham), Paul Eldredge, Stephen Anton, and Thomas Armand Jensen.

Once the children were grown, Betty worked as a baker for the Alhambra School District in Phoenix. Following the death of her husband in 1978, she went to work for Digital Equipment Company where she worked as a cable assembler. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and she served in a number of capacities in the local chapter.

Betty’s hobbies included photography, reading, bird watching, camping, genealogy, and just generally being friendly with everyone with whom she came in contact. She was consistently polite and respectful, slow to anger and quick to forgive, and she was known to be a peacemaker. She was the kind of person who was always willing to help out when there was something to be done.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by three of her four children, and a grandson. She is survived by her son Paul and his wife Cindy; her grandchildren Brian Bingham and wife Frances, Jason Jensen and his wife Rebecca, Elizabeth Jensen and her husband Adam Ross, and Natalie Jensen. She had six great-grandsons, Carter, Keaton and Cullen Ross, Jake Jensen, Tyler and Brandon Bingham and one great granddaughter Krista Bingham. She had three great-great grandchildren, Jovita, Taven and Addison Bingham.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on November 18, 2022 in the Grace Chapel at Scottsdale Bible Church, 7601 East Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona 85260.
