Floyd was born April 17, 1936 on a farm northwest of Bayard to Alex and Hermina (Huck) Sauer. He was the second of four children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church in Bayard, attended District #4 school in Morrill County, and graduated from Bayard High School in 1954. He married Sandra Heimbouch of Mitchell on November 16, 1958, and two children were born to this marriage, Arlan and Stacy.
He farmed with his father and on his own until 1985. He then went to work for J.C. Robinson Seed Company, serving the states of Wyoming and Nebraska until 1998. He loved working with his hands. He built just about everything and helped with projects for several friends and relatives during his “supposed” retirement years. He was never content to sit still and was happiest staying busy.
Survivors include his son, Arlan (Wendy) of Thornton, Colorado; daughter Stacy Sauer (Jeff Chaon) of Yuma, Arizona; sisters Mary Ellen Kropp of Scottsbluff and Loretta (Jerry) Kintzler of Riverton, Wyoming; brother Paul (Bea) Sauer of Aurora, Colorado; two granddaughters, one grandson, 4 great granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers-in-law, infant great grandson Hunter Lee Alkire, 6 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and special friend Grace Andrew.
