Charles "Ben" Mortimore

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles ( Ben ) Mortimore, age 80 , of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, share his passing on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Regional West Medical Center, with his children at his side. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel with inurnment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Charles Benjamin (Ben) Mortimore was born September 13, 1941 to Mahlen and Eva (Callan) Mortimore in Stockville, Nebraska. The family moved to Indianola shortly after Ben was born. He attended Indianola schools and graduated High School from Indianola in 1960. He played basketball and played in the State Championship game his Senior Year. He also played football for Indianola High School.

Charles (Ben) and Karen (Owens) Mortimore were married on August 7, 1962 in Stockville, NE. They lived in Indianola, Gering, McCook, Sidney and Scottsbluff. Ben was a devoted family man and would do anything for his family or his friends. Ben was a very hard worker and enjoyed his work. He worked for Kansas Nebraska Gas Company for many years, here in Scottsbluff doing their appliance repair work as a Division Service Tech. throughout Western NE. and Wyoming. He worked for the K.N. Gas Company in McCook as well. Worked for a plumbing company in Sidney, NE. and then worked over 20 years for Independent Heating and Plumbing as their Master Plumber. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved coin collecting, bowling, soft ball, horseshoes and enjoyed woodworking. He also coached little league baseball in Scottsbluff and McCook. He and Karen completely remodeled their houses in McCook and Scottsbluff. He had that love as well. He enjoyed his garden and took pride in all it would produce.

Charles (Ben) is survived by his two children Kyla (Pete) Cwik of Chandler, AZ and Jim (Missy) Mortimore of Scottsbluff, NE; grandchildren (6) Greg (Samantha) Ford of San Tan Valley, AZ, Amber (Jimmy) Valentin of Chandler, AZ., Wes (Maeghann) Mortimore of Gering, NE, Austin (Sara) Mortimore of Scottsbluff, NE, Katelyn Cwik of Gilbert, AZ and Stephanie Cwik of Chandler, AZ; Great Grandchildren (6) Madeleine Ford, Alexis Ford, Bianca Valentin, Axel Mortimore, Riverson Mortimore, Diesel Mortimore, and Charlotte Ford; brother Harvey (Kathy) Mortimore of Bridgeport, NE; sister Sarah Wright of Indianola NE; sister-in-law Bonnie Mortimore of Torrington WY; In-laws Doug (Lana) Owens of Austin MN, Janis Owens of Creston IA, Joann Owens of Bullhead City, AZ., and Don (Roxann) Owens of Indianola NE.

He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Mortimore, parents, Mahlen and Eva Mortimore, brothers Clarence (Blythe) Mortimore, Pat Mortimore, and Mahlen Mortimore Jr., sister, Evelyn (Dan) Hinton, In-laws Francis J and Della Owens, brothers-in-law Verl Owens, Larry Owens, Dale Owens, and sister-in-law Neva (Ray) Owens.
