Betty Jane Garvin

Betty Jane Garvin, 92 of Scottsbluff, NE died Monday, July 11, 2022 at Heritage Estates.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials may be given to Make A Wish Foundation. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.dugankramer.com.

Betty Jane Garvin was born April 25, 1930 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Henry and Amelia (Geier) Pfenning. Betty was 1 of six children. The family moved to the Bayard area when she was 5 where they resided and farmed. Later moving to a log/soddy cabin by Chimney Rock while attending schools and participating in sports, glee and pep club. Being raised on the farm, she knew what farm and field chores were. Mom graduated from Bayard High School in 1948.

Mom eventually moved to Scottsbluff, sharing an apartment with her older sister Doris. While working at The Mary Morrow clothing store, she met the man she would eventually marry. Mom and Dad were married in Chadron, NE on June 14, 1950. Four children were born to this marriage, Lynn, Courtney, Cindy and Dana. Mom worked outside the home at various business, Nebraska Machinery, Robinsons Meat packing, Business Farmer but retired from DHHS in Gering. They lived in Scotts Bluff County their entire life.

Mom is survived by her children and spouses; Lynn (Colleen) Garvin, Courtney (Susan) Garvin of Gering; Cindy Aguallo of Scottsbluff, daughter –in-law Cheryl L Garvin of Gering. A sister Shirley Hardt and sister-in-law Delores Pfenning both of Scottsbluff. Also 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband Fred D Garvin, her parents, son Dana Garvin, son-in-law Clyde Aguallo, brother Roy, sister Leona Childers, Doris Thilges, brothers-in-law Don Hardt, Hank Thilges and Jess Childers and great granddaughter Keelie Ann Garvin.
