WHITE, William W. “Bill” of Scituate, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, after a brief illness, at the age of 51. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sharon (Gasbarro), a son Oscar Chappelle of Scituate; his sister, Patricia White and her husband Richard Martin of New York City; and his step-children Grace and Billy Curry of Cohasset and many friends. Beloved son of the late William W. White, Sr and Jacqueline (Herel) White. Brother of the late Jacqueline McCarthy.
Bill grew up in Scituate and graduated from Scituate High School in 1979. He studied animation at The Kubert School in Dover, New Jersey and worked as an animator, cartoonist and caricaturist for over 30 years. He has contributed artwork and stories to many comic book publishers, including DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Archie Comics, Harvey Comics, Walt Disney Publishing, and many more. He has illustrated the adventures of famous characters including Donald Duck, Roger Rabbit, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, Richie Rich, Casper the Friendly Ghost, and many others. He also had a comic book featuring his own characters, Kaptain Keen and Kompany (Vortex Comics), which ran for six issues and was optioned for television in 1986. In the animation field, Bill worked for Spümcø (for the animated series The Ren and Stimpy Show), Walt Disney Feature Animation, and DiC Entertainment (for the animated series Inspector Gadget). He has also done extensive work in the advertising and publishing fields, most notably as an artist for “Building 19” from 2000-2008 and has traveled throughout the United States doing caricatures at private parties and corporate events. He was a talented amateur actor and frequently appeared in community theater productions around the South Shore.
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, Nov. 1st at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate from 4PM – 8PM. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, on Friday, Nov. 2nd at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent St, Scituate at 10AM. Burial will be private.
