Anne (Lonergan) Fenn – of Scituate passed away on September 22, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Willard D. Fenn. Devoted mother of Kathleen Gaughan and her husband Ned of Scituate, MA and Peter Fenn and his wife Maureen of Windham, NH. Cherished grandmother of Molly Crane and Michael Gaughan, Elizabeth, Sean, Brian and Danny Fenn.
Anne grew up in Waterbury Connecticut and met Will at age 15. Anne and Will were high school sweethearts and married for 62 years. They enjoyed boating in Scituate Harbor and it was not uncommon to see the couple enjoying Maria’s subs on the stern of Compromise I, II and III. Anne’s passion for eduction led her to a teaching career in Oakville, CT, Rockland, MA and finally Scituate, MA. In Scituate she was the Department Chairman of Home Economics. There Anne pioneered the community service program. Through this program, Anne cultivated the spirit of volunteerism in her students at Scituate High School. After retiring, Anne became an enthusiastic member of the Cohasset Garden Club.
Anne loved her grandchildren and taught them how to bake pies, sew and even throw darts.
Anne was a loving sister of Mary Iorio of Waterbury Connecticut, Kathleen Sutter of Morgantown, West Virginia, Ellen Hertel of Otter Rock, Oregon, the late William Lonergan of Middlebury Connecticut. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday September 26 from 9am-10:30am at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A funeral mass will immediately follow at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate at 11am. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
