He was a writer, editor, and publicist who held numerous management positions in television, advertising, and with multinational corporations. His employers included WTVN-TV in Columbus, Ohio and Caterpillar, Inc. and WABCO Construction and Mining Equipment in Peoria, Illinois and advertising agencies in Ohio, Illinois, and Massachusetts. He was also the independent television producer and writer of “Columbus Open House” and also writer, producer and host of public radio’s “Writers’ Workshop”.
His community service included volunteer work for United Way and the March of Dimes in Columbus, Ohio; Cub Scouts, the Salvation Army and Urban League in Peoria, Illinois and Quincy Hospital, Serve New England and the Scituate Council on Aging in Massachusetts. He was a member of Toastmasters Club, Columbus Writers Club, MENSA, and Delta Chi Fraternity and was a graduate of Ohio State University.
He is survived by sons Eric R. Kent of Boston and Ian M. Kent of Naples, Florida, daughter Simone E. Brucato of Shrewsbury, his companion Marian F. Donnelly of Scituate, his sister, Suzanne M. Montero of Houston, Texas and a niece and nephew. Extended family include Gary M. Dwyer of Boston, Elizabeth Kent of Naples, Florida, Gregory Brucato of Shrewsbury, Paula Donnelly of Scituate, Mark and Jen Donnelly of Hanover, and Scott and Kim Donnelly of Norton, Massachusetts, and grandchildren Andrew Kent , Dylan Kent, Lana Brucato and Zachary Jablonski.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday April 16th at 1 PM at the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate, MA. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
