Paul Edward Testa passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 12, 2020. He was predeceased by his parents Dominic F. and Mary P. (“Patsy” McLean). Paul is survived by his two children, Mary and Keith Testa and their mother Christine MacCormack, all from Newton. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Berlo and her husband Stephen of Scituate and their children Casey, Kimberly and Michael. Paul also leaves behind aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends who will remember him as full of fun and mischief in his younger years.
Paul was born on August 5, 1954 and grew up in Newton and Scituate. Paul began working for his Dad at an early age and was very proud to eventually partner with him as co-owner of Newtonville Texaco for many years. Working side by side with Dom brought them both great joy, but his greatest source of pride were his children Mary & Keith.
Paul was kindhearted, generous and a loyal friend. He loved a good time and was often the life of the party in his younger days. He was an avid Boston sports fan and an especially committed Bruins fan! A season ticket holder for many years, he enjoyed sharing this passion with those he loved! Scituate summers and boating with family and friends were a favorite pastime as well! A risk taker, Paul also had a fascination for fast cars and motorcycles which fortunately he survived! Paul was a member of the Newton Lodge of Elks #1327 for many years and enjoyed the camaraderie and brotherhood. He was honored to serve as the Exalted Ruler.
Ultimately Paul’s dependence on alcohol and drugs would cost him those that he most cherished. Unable to conquer his demons, Paul spent his subsequent years in a mostly solitary lifestyle. It was not easy to be Paul. All who knew him will miss the father, brother, uncle, friend and cousin he was and could have been. Fondly remembered by close friends and family as “Chico,” we pray you are healed and whole at last! At this time, services are private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Paul’s name to a group or charity that is close to your heart, or to Dana Farber: Andrea Gaziano Memorial Fund that is close to ours.
