Joseph J. Mariani, 35, of Woonsocket, RI formerly of North Smithfield, RI passed away peacefully after a 5 year battle with heart complications at Rhode Island Hospital on August 2, 2018. His beloved wife, Sara (Brunelle) Mariani was by his side. The two were inseparable since they met and together right until his final breath. They shared nearly 4 years of marriage.
Joe was born April 20, 1983 in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Sharon (Wilcox) Mariani of Burrillville and the late Joseph J. Mariani, Jr. who passed away in 2016. He was a 2001 graduate of North Smithfield High School and worked as a roofer for most of his adult life. Although much too brief, Joe’s life was not without struggles, beginning with a childhood injury requiring rehabilitation, years of addiction and most recently a series of strokes from which he learned to walk again. All that were close to him knew he was always a fighter. The last years of his life, Joe found security and true love in his wife and children and found a reason to be a better man. In the end, he truly lived the life of a devoted family man, present in so many special moments with his family.
On June 1, 2014, he began his courtship with Sara and together they built a beautiful blended family and had two daughters of their own, Isabella and Annabella. He was the father of Serena and James Mariani of Burrillville and became a much loved second father to step children Leah and Nancy Dubois and Ryan Bibeault II, all of Woonsocket.
Joe is also survived by his sisters, Gina (Mariani) Lambert and Allison Mariani of Burrillville and Julie Mariani of Woonsocket and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral home service was held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, RI with calling hours from 1-4 pm.
Sara and the rest of Joe’s family want to thank everyone for their love and words of comfort. In lieu of flowers, a donation to his family to assist in supporting his wife and children through this difficult transition would be very much appreciated. Please inquire by call or text to (781)427-4900 for mailing information.
Kindly leave a message of condolence in the online guestbook on this site, as it will help to create a beautiful keepsake for his family.
