John A. Sanford

Born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield, CT., he was the son of the late Alton and Lois (Marsden) Sanford.

John graduated from Tufts University and later earned his MBA at Babson College. He enjoyed a distinguished career in mortgage sales for several banks and mortgage companies. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox and Patriots, and participated in a fantasy baseball league with friends and colleagues for over 20 years. Above all, John’s greatest joy in life was spending time and enjoying the company of his family.

He was the devoted father of Ryan Sanford and his wife Caitlin Sanford of Briarcliff, NY and Alexandra Sanford of Medford, MA and her fiancé Daniel Peterson.

He is also survived by his former wife, Diane Burke of Marshfield, MA.

Loving brother of Susan and her husband Thomas D’Angelo of Trumbull, CT., Elizabeth and her husband Gregory Dwyer of Stroudsburg, PA., and the late Patricia Weilbrenner. Loving brother-in-law of Charles Weilbrenner and Holly Safford Weilbrenner of Duxbury, MA., and Deborah and Phillip Santoro of Reading, MA.

Also survived by his niece Sarah and nephews Brad, Brian, Scott, Matthew, Kevin, Eric, Chris, and Greg.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 6 from 6-8 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 am on Friday, October 7 at St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent Street, Scituate.
