John R. Pugsley Sr.

John R. Pugsley Sr. – 86, of Scituate, passed away on May 12, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Maryann (Petrous) Pugsley, with whom he shared over 30 years of marriage before her passing in 1997.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Arthur S. and Josephine Pugsley.

Devoted father of Jack Pugsley and his wife Karen of Wakefield, Jean McGonagle and her husband Chris of Winthrop, Jeff Pugsley and his partner Lauren of Foxboro, Judy Saulnier of Londonderry, NH, Jim Pugsley and his wife Beth of Plymouth.

Cherished “Papa” of Matthew, Emily, J.C., Danielle, Tyler, Ashley, Jordyn, Nick, Eva and Jacoby.

Loving brother of Dorothy Miller and her husband Michael. Predeceased by Arthur, Stanley, Charles, Ernest, Robert and Richard.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John served in the US Army stationed at Ft. Bragg. He was a retired Detective with the Boston Police Department for 40 years. His entire life was centered around his family. He especially enjoyed attending his many grandchildren’s games and events.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 AM at St. Gregory Parish, 2215 Dorchester Ave, Dorchester. Interment immediately following at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams St, Dorchester. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
