Elizabeth Conroy

CONROY, Elizabeth - Age 92, of Scituate passed away on March 18, 2023. Born July 14th, 1930 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Betty was one of eleven children to Hugh and Maggie MacDonald. As a young adult she emigrated to the United States where she would meet her beloved husband of 61 years, the late William E. Conroy.

Betty was loved by all who knew her as a generous and kind soul who valued her family and friends above all else. Whether from the years in upstate New York, followed by Duxbury and later Scituate, Betty always found people that could use a caring friend and brought them into her life.

She took pride in her home and loved hosting family gatherings with plenty of food and laughter.

Known affectionately as Mrs. C to her children’s friends, Betty possessed a wry sense of humor and was simply just fun to be around.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and is survived by her children Greg (Ewa) of Jamaica Plain, Cheryl of Braintree and Doug (Heather) of Cohasset and grandchildren Courtney and Christopher Smith, Brooke and Sarah Conroy and great grandchildren Cameron and Connor Sullivan. Also survived by her dear brother, John.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2023 from 9am-10:30am at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM at St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1 Kent Street, Scituate. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
