Debra Lynne (Brady) HOFFMAN, of Scituate, on Saturday, December 11th, surrounded by her loving family Debra Lynne (Brady) Hoffman passed away peacefully in her home. Diagnosed in March 2008, Debra had courageously battled cancer for the past twenty-one months with the grace and style that was characteristic of the way she lived.
Debra was born and raised in Scituate and is survived by her loving parents John Y. and Lorraine Brady. Debra is survived by her doting husband of thirty-six years, William E. Hoffman. She is also survived by her loving sons Justin, Michael, and Alex; as well as Justin’s wife Andrea (Freeman) and their precious daughter, Alexa Lynne. Debra is survived by her adoring twin sister Diane Kelleher and husband Danny, brothers John Brady and wife Lori, Mark Brady and wife Erica, and sister Beth Cunnigham and husband Craig all of Scituate. Debra was the daughter-in-law of Julia “Sidy” Hoffman of Palm City, Florida and the late William R. Hoffman. Godmother of the late PJ Steverman, Debra will be dearly missed by her three surviving godchildren, Brad Kent, Jenna Kelleher, and Joanna Timmins along with her eighteen nieces and nephews.
Debra’s childhood was rich with family love and tradition, which would later become the foundation for all that was important to her. She graduated from Scituate High School in 1973 and went on to become a dental assistant. On October 27, 1974 Debra married her best friend and soul mate Billy Hoffman. Together they made their home in Scituate and raised their sons Justin, Mikey, and Alex. A loving and devoted mother, Debra cherished and celebrated every moment with her boys. Her joy was more complete when Justin married Andrea “Dil” and together they brought Alexa Lynn into her life. Debra found great joy entertaining her family and friends in her home. She was a gracious hostess, paid great attention to detail, and always made everyone feel welcome. She took great pleasure shopping with her friends, laughing, and sharing a glass of wine. She nurtured many relationships, but took particular joy in spending time with her twin sister Diane “Sistabelle” and her family. Together by example they created a unique bond between their families. Debra’s spirit will continue to live on through her family and friends.
Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd., Scituate on Thursday, December 16th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Nativity, Scituate at 10AM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, December 15th from 4-8 pm In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debra’s memory to Scituate Recreation, 600 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066 .
