Born on August 28th,1931 in Midland, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Frimino and Eugenia (Barboza) Gomez.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Amos Gomez, Edith Silva, Daisy Tavares, Olivia Martins, and Madeline Oxford and son, Charles Freeman Gomez, Jr.
Charles graduated from Midland-Lincoln High School, Class 1950. After high school, he served in the Army during the Korean War. He then went to work at the Crucible Steel Company and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Midland Democratic Committee
and served on the Midland Municipal Water Authority Board from 1982 to 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna (Fernandes), son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Virginia, 8 grandchildren: Joanna, Charles, Temica, Brandi, Eugenia, Lawrence, Johniah, JeBron and 7 great-grandchildren: Zicaria, Darius, Preston, Devin, Renell, Brandin, and Amari, 4 great-great grandchildren: Maliah, Na’khia, Leiria, Presley, several nieces and nephews, and many, many, friends.
Charles (Papa, Uncle Charlie, Junior, Unc, Jones, Mr. G) was much beloved by family and friends. An avid Steelers fan, his smile, wisdom and advice will be sorely missed.
Friends will be received Monday, December 27th, 4-8 pm at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate, Massachusetts.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 28th at 10:30 am at St. Christine’s Catholic Church, 1295 Main St, Marshfield, Massachusetts.
Interment will take place in Couch Cemetery, Marshfield.
