I was blessed to meet Ron in 2002 when I purchased my East Hampton home from him. It was the first home I looked at and I knew I wanted to buy it. The broker arranged a meeting with Ron the following week. The meeting was at Ron's home. When the broker and I arrived, Ron opened the door and put out his hand to shake my hand and said, "Hi, I'm Ron." As a girl from Brooklyn I felt an instant connection; I felt like I knew him for ten years already. I ultimately came to think of him as the brother I never had. I miss him so much and I truly feel blessed to have known him for the years that I did. I'm also a firm believer in the afterlife and I know that the soul never dies so I take comfort in knowing that I will meet him again one day. My love to Nora and their blended children and my love to Ron in heaven as well.

Ronald Tana was more like a brother to me than a 1st cousin. he was intelligent hard worker great family man and his greatest quality was loyalty to his inner circle. When we were kids we would spend every sunday at each others house with all our relatives and what a time it was.we were the only cousins with the last name Tana so our bond as brothers started then and stayed strong all these years. As time went on we still kept in touch but the years started to take its toll physically but our bond stayed strong.Time to say goodbye Ron and see you at the Tana banquet table in the sky. My Dearest Ronnie,
So heartbroken to know that you’re gone, but grateful to have reconnected with you this last year after so many years. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of you holding up the roof on your back (literally!) as you put the second story on my first childhood home with my Dad. Coffees, dinners, holidays, I remember you there. While we lost touch for too many years, my brother Rich and I reconnecting with you this last year, if only by phone, was a priceless gift. 
We never got to have dinner because of the Pandemic, and left off that we’d see you in East Hampton in August. I’m heartbroken that we didn’t get to see you. 
But, I know my Mom and Dad were waiting for you with a hot, fresh cup of coffee and Mom’s Pound Cake, as you reminded me of when we last spoke in June. ..We laughed and cried as you told me you remembered me as the beautiful little girl who used to pester you when you were working. .. the photo I attached is how I’ll remember you. 
Laughing, smiling with that amazing head of hair and handsome face, and beautiful heart. 
You are reunited with your loved ones in Heaven, but leave an amazing Legacy of love, family, memories and the gift of who you truly were to your beautiful family.

Many many years ago, before 9/11 and cell phones (with cameras) 
I had the chance to fly in private airplanes with Ron and some of my pilot friends while I was a budding Military Pilot.
Ron was a great champion of the military and he loved pilots and flying as much as we did. Even a rumored incident about a botched water landing by another pilot (not me) in a seaplane wasn’t enough to ground him. When Ron wanted to commute by air, we would oblige him as often as we could. One summer weekend I was at dinner  in NYC, and Ron wanted to beat the traffic on the LiE and Fly to East Hampton to see his Beloved Nora, for the weekend as he often did. I wasn’t able to fly that day but I dispatched my friend Tommy, who knew Ron well, to summon one of the fleet of small aircraft we had at our disposal, and take Ron to East Hampton . I was to be informed when the mission was complete later that evening. 
When my beeper went off later that night  I barely noticed because I thought it would be a simple confirmation that Ron was safely on the ground , as I looked closer  there was the dreaded -911- code at the end of the non descript (516) number, indicating there was a problem!
 For a few frantic minutes I was worried, was this his second plane crash? I Then called the house and it was Ron’s calm voice on the other end reassuring me that everything was AoK. I said “Captain, what happened, I was worried !?” He said, “ don’t worry Pal, Tommy did a good job,  he had a small technical issue w the plane and he had to shut it down out on the runway and I had to walk across the field in the dark to find Nora in the parking lot, ..I said “did anyone see you?!?” He says “yeah,  there were these two charter pilots putting their plane away and they saw me and asked me who I was and what I was doing walking around on the runway at night ?!?”..”then what did you tell them”?
Ron said calmly, “I told them I was SUPERMAN, and I just landed!”

You were so kind to me when I was just a kid.  You taught me lessons that I have kept all of my life.  While I'm an adult now, you will always be Mr. Tana to me because of the highest level of respect I have for you.  I look forward to the day we meet again. My love for life on the water is because of you my friend. Heaven is lucky to have you.

I work in films.  Occasionally I work with stars.   I can tell you without fear of contradiction,  Ronnie Tana  was a movie star!  He just had it – the charisma, the charm, the swagger. You just wanted more of him after every get together – a star. 
 I first met him when he  and his Lionshead partner Nick Zappola built my house   For most of the construction I was in Africa. When I came back the house was almost finished. In the living room there was a BIG hole for the fire place. I said “Ronnie,  it’s ahh, a bit big.” He said “Kid, you Irish build fires for heat, we Italians build them for entertainment.” Every winter now I love that fireplace. 
 Ronnie, Nick and I became firm friends,  and regular dining buddies, mostly  under that moose head in the American hotel . Like every restaurant he ever entered, Ronnie owned the room.  The waiters loved him, the maître d’ pampered him, and we drank and laughed the night away.  And then there were the dinners at he and Nora’s house;  his own big fires – two of them! Fine wine, Nora’s wonderful food – and the stories and  laughter. Oh and Christmas, who ever celebrated Christmas better?  I swear that tree, all 18 feet of it, still had squirrels in it some years.  Ronnie did indeed love boating. He claimed he loved fishing. I never once saw him reel in a fish, he just sailed and smiled.  On our most memorable trip, he chartered a 70 ft Buddy Davis.  We sailed to the Canyon, caught six huge tuna. It was back-breaking.  Ronnie  got out of the captain’s chair once, to pose with a tuna. I challenged him to reel one in – he gave me that “are you nuts” look and laughed.  
Yes, he was a movie star – a rogue, a charmer, he burned the candle at both ends, and in the middle.  He loved life,  he  loved his kids and his grandkids, his friends and he so loved Nora. And we loved him back. When I light up that big fireplace this winter, Ronnie will entertain me. I will miss him so. God bless you Ronnie. Terry George

Grandpa,

I don’t know where to start, you were a beloved friend, husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. I am so lucky to have known you and to be your grandson. After a couple of hard weeks of thinking about how much I will miss all the boat rides, the times on the job sites, eating countless fantastic meals and always making great big fires with you during Christmas time, I’m at peace knowing your in heaven with your parents, and uncle Mario..... they can once again enjoy your infectious personality.... like I have enjoyed for my entire life....thanks for all the amazing memories, love you always grandpa
