Maria F. Todaro

Maria Felicia Todaro passed away on August 20, 2015. A longtime resident of Scarsdale, Maria, 87, was the beloved wife of Carmelo J. Todaro and the devoted mother of four children and six grandchildren.

Maria was born September 18, 1927, in the Bronx to Frances LaSala Liggio and Frank Liggio. She graduated Walton High School and subsequently worked as a secretary for Newsweek magazine. She also pursued her interest in the piano, studying with Bess Myerson. Maria later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pace University in 1995.

On September 30, 1951, Maria and Carmelo married in St. John’s Church in the Bronx. She worked for many years as an assistant in her husband’s dental office.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, Maria is survived by four children: Joseph (Marlene), Maria Pizzolato (Salvatore), John (Tammy), and Charles. She dearly loved her six grandchildren: Nicole, Giannella, Peter, Christina, Natalie, Charlie.

Maria was a member of the Scarsdale Women’s Club. She enjoyed reading, writing, and many other artistic endeavors. She was an avid genealogist, spending many years researching her family history. Maria especially loved cooking for her family and hosting many holiday dinners and birthday celebrations. Maria will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Scarsdale. Entombment Woodlawn Cemetery Bronx NY. Visitation Monday August 24, 2015 from 2-4 7-9 PM.
