Lucille was born on February 19, 1929 in Bronx, NY to John and Rosa (née Martone) Masone. She was the seventh of nine children. She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1947 where she actively participated with the Melody Singers. Over her lifetime, she held many administrative jobs at several institutions including the New York Foundling Hospital, Hofstra University, Marymount College, and Edgemont High School. As her faith was her foundation, she was a regular Lector and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady Fatima Church.
In 1950, she married the love of her life, Joseph DiPalermo. They remained together for close to 55 years, until Joseph’s death in 2005 from non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. For many years, they acted together at summer stock productions in Connecticut and New Jersey. The theater was a major part of their early life together and resulted in a lifetime of regular attendance of Broadway shows. They traveled frequently including Italy, England, Nassau, Bermuda, St. Thomas, Paris, Austria and Switzerland, and Canada. Together, they raised their two adopted children, Maria and Christian DiPalermo, who both attended Edgemont High School.
Family and friends were everything to Lucille. She cherished the time she spent with her nephews and nieces as well as her very best friends on Sprain Valley Road in Edgemont. In her later years, she spent her time enjoying her three granddaughters, Olivia, Isabella, and Jordana DiPalermo. Their regular trips together to Disney World, Montauk and Mohonk Mountain Lodge were truly memorable. Simply watching them dance, sing or having them braid her hair brightened up her days. They were the delights of her life.
