Josephine B. Reynolds, better known as “Josie”, 88, of Scarsdale, New York passed peacefully on October 3, 2018 with her loving family by her side, after courageously battling ovarian cancer for nearly 5 years. Daughter of the late Mariano and Caterina D’Angelo of Monforte San Giorgio, Sicily, she was the beloved wife to her predeceased husband, Harold J. Reynolds, Esq., to whom she was married for 65 years.
Josie was born in Manhattan’s East Village and spent her childhood venturing to Coney Island and Luna Park with friends, listening to Frank Sinatra and volunteering with the Girl Scouts. She attended City College until she married in 1952. A voracious reader, she had a deep interest in medicine, politics, history and enjoyed attending the opera. She had a tremendous love of animals and of dogs in particular. A fiercely independent woman, she had a successful career in banking that spanned four decades. Josie was captivatingly friendly to all who had the privilege of meeting her. Her family and friends will eternally memorialize her consistent and unwavering zest for life.
Josie was a passionate, devoted, and loving force to her children Kevin, Catherine, Ellen, Elizabeth and Michael and their partners Monica, Laurence, Brian and Eric. Her positive spirit and love of life is survived by her grandchildren Max, Cate, Erica, Kristen, Wendy, Julie, Megan, Benjamin, Thomas, as well as her dog, Wendy. Josie was also the loving sister to the late Mary Genovese and surviving brothers Anthony and Salvatore D’Angelo. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Cancer Support Team at www.cancersupportteam.org.
A joint memorial service is being planned for Harold and Josephine Reynolds.
