FASHION, JOSEPH MICHAEL. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Fashion, (Joe Cool) of Toronto, Ontario who passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2024, in his 88th year at Scarborough General Hospital with his son Todd and his loving companion of seven years, Shirley Bailey by his side.
He was a dedicated and adoring husband to Grace Mary Fashion, loving father of Lucy Anne Walker and Todd J. Fashion, proud grampa to Shawn, Kristi and Daniel Walker, great grampa to William and Pearl Walker, dear brother in law of Frank Melia, treasured uncle of Roben Grenier Hendry and best friend of his strongest supporters and rabble rousers Fred Calvert, Geoff Nash and the late Donald Leitch, whom he trusted implicitly.
He will be immensely missed by his family and many friends. He was the very proud leader of the I.B.E.W. Local Union 353 Toronto for 24 years and an energetic and pivotal force in the Brotherhood for 47 years! My father was passionate about baseball, golf and especially hockey; captaining his teams and organizing games and practices for many years.
Special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Scarborough General and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospitals for their dedicated and compassionate care over the last two months of his life and especially to his G.P. Dr. Eddison Sussman, to whom his family is forever grateful for his attentive care over the years.
There will be a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. on December 21st, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 3216 Lawrence Ave. East, Scarborough with a Celebration of Life (Light Refreshments) at 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at the I.B.E.W. Local Union 353,1377 Lawrence Ave. E. (Railside Dr.) Toronto.
He will be interred with his late wife and daughter on April 28th, 2025 at Milton Evergreen Cemetery, 230 Ontario St. South, Milton Ontario, with details to be announced through social media: IBEW 353 website at a later date.
In lieu of flowers; donations to Scarborough General Hospital, the Diabetes Foundation and the Fred Victor Mission would be greatly appreciated by the family as these charities were very important to him.
