Jan is predeceased by her mother Iris Riley, father Condel Kirton Riley, aunts Olga and Violet Mullin and uncle Kenneth Mullin.
Jan is survived by her loving husband Victor of 41 plus years. They were married in Toronto, Ontario Canada on July 28, 1979.
Jan is lovingly remembered by her children Christopher and Jennifer Williams, daughter-in-law Darina Jupa-Williams, grandson Kai Jupa-Williams, brother Condé (Andrew) Riley, sister-in-law Marguerite Woodstock-Riley and niece Amanda Riley-Jordan of Barbados, uncle Charles Wilmer Riley, aunts Erla Matondo, Hildred Riley and Elsie Mullin. Relative of the Riley, Mullin, Worrell and Welch families of Barbados, U.S.A and U.K. Janice Joseph and Etheline Best, sisters-in-law Thelma Carter, Peggy Brathwaite, Marcia Wilkinson, Sylvia Williams and Fay Williams of Toronto, Canada. God children Renée Jordan, Lisa Small and Fabian Gaskin. Best friends Rosita Jordan, Harold and Pam Gaskin, Arlene Graham and Pat Payne. Auntie Jan to many other relatives and friends.
Esther Janet was born in Barbados. She completed her secondary education at Girls Foundation School in Barbados and went on to work for Smith and Oxley Advertising. Jan left for Canada to pursue studies in Office Procedures at Shaw Business College, there she met Victor. In 1973 Jan returned to Barbados where she rejoined the staff at Smith and Oxley Advertising. In 1979 she returned to Canada and married her sweetheart Victor and remained in Toronto, Canada up until the time of her passing.
Prior to becoming ill, Jan was employed by the Ontario Provincial Police as Secretary to the Head of the Department.
Jan also worked as Secretary for St. Paul’s Church L’Amoreaux and St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Jan enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, home decorating and board games such as Scrabble. Jan was also a dedicated soccer mum.
The visitation for Jan will be held at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home located at 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday July 25, 2021. Scheduled visitation times are 2:00p.m to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Jan will be held on Monday July 26, 2021, by invitation only due to the restrictions and protocol for Covid-19.
