June 4, 1940 – October 15, 2023
Peacefully at NYGH with her family by her side. Predeceased by her husband Terry, mother Marie, brother Frank, and son-in-law Robert Richards. Anne is survived by her loving daughters Cathy (Steve) and Linda (Dave), her grandchildren Katie, Sarah, Sean, Emily and Julia, and her dear sister Phyllis.
Anne was the best combination of kindness and strength. She was as sharp as a tack, had a great sense of humor and was an eternal optimist. For Anne, the glass was always half full.
She was truly the heart of the family and took great pleasure in motherhood. Anne believed the word ‘mom’ to be the sweetest word in the world. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and she provided Cathy and Linda with an idyllic childhood where they always felt loved and secure.
Anne adored her grandchildren and carved out a special relationship with each one. In her eyes, they could do no wrong. She believed grandchildren were the cherry on the cake of life and they provided her with endless delight.
She was a voracious reader who never got tired of learning. She loved history, politics and current events but could just as easily devour a good murder mystery (where she would have the crime solved by the first chapter), and she loved her soaps – especially the Y&R.
People were drawn to Anne’s warmth and good humor. With her, there were no games or pretense. She said what she meant and meant what she said. Her family and friends relied on her practical advice, and she made friends wherever she went.
Anne spent 61 years happily married to her soulmate Terry. Together, they were an amazing example of love and devotion, enjoying each other’s company and never running out of things to say. Anne had a great laugh and Terry loved to make her laugh. We take great comfort in imagining they are reunited and can continue to talk and laugh as they always did.
We are so grateful for the loving care Anne received in the Palliative Care Unit at NYGH from Dr. Kimberly Wintemute and Dr. Joelle Soriano.
