Lena was born on January 27, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie to Mary and Michele Massovich. On May 13, 1947, she married her sweetheart, late Joseph Lauzon, and together for 71 years they shared laughter, adventures, companionship and mounds of love as they raised six children.
Devoted wife of the late Joseph Lauzon, and wonderful mother of Linda (Terry), Peggy (Jimmy), late David (Gloria), Catherine (Rod), Joseph and Danny (Elan). Proud grandma of Drew (Shauna) and Mandiy, Damien (Tara) and Rejeanne (Greg), Dylan (Janet) and Joseph (Jody), Matthew, Quynn and Lucas and 11 great grandchildren. Lena was predeceased by sisters Olga (Guido), Rose (Tom) McGill, Pauline (John) Shonuck, Mary (Earl) Lalonde, Catherine (John) Gianakakis and brother Michael (Janice) Massovich).
Lena was that gentle, generous, kind, and patient thread that kept the Lauzon family woven together in a close-knit bond for more than 7 decades. She adored camping, skiing, curling, bowling, playing cards and watching Blue Jays’ games with her late husband and best friend, Joseph. Lena’s joyful and warm spirit coupled with her impressive culinary talents always made home a very cozy, welcoming and pleasing place for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to visit. The world seems quieter now without her smile, laughter, and hugs.
The family would like to thank the palliative care team, Dr. Apostle, the staff and volunteers at ARCH and the Veterans Affairs for all their support. A celebration of life for Lena will take place at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522) on Saturday, November 23, 2024 between 12 noon to 2 pm. Inurnment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contribution (payable by cheque or online) to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Lauzon family.
