The family of Victor Rupps mourns the recent loss of our Dad/Grandpa/Opa at age 93. He was born in Rosenfeld, Ukraine on Jan. 15, 1931, the second son of Christian and Anna (Knauer) Rupps. He lived in Germany post World War 2 and then immigrated to Canada in 1951 with his mother and two younger brothers. They were sponsored by a sugar beet farmer in Iron Springs, Alberta where they worked for two years to pay off their debts. In 1952, Victor moved to Calgary, started his career in the concrete business and married Olga Oppenlander. He moved to Saskatoon in 1956 and was a proud Saskatonian for the rest of his life.
Victor worked for Stodola Concrete in Calgary and Saskatoon, but started his own business, United Concrete Contracting, with his brother-in-law Theo in 1966. After retirement he enjoyed square-dancing, golfing, gardening, and wood-working. They also traveled widely, in addition to camping in Saskatchewan with his RV club and wintering in Arizona. He was an active member of the Lutheran church.
Victor was a widower three times over. He and Olga had five children before her passing at age 41 in 1970. Victor married Alena (Amendt, nee Zwer) in 1972, helped raise her children, and then lost her in 2008. He married Evelyn Goodwin (nee Munson) in 2009 and had ten happy years with her before her death in 2018.
Victor’s greatest pride was his growing family. He will be remembered and celebrated by his five children: Rosemarie Rupps, Helga Eva (Jack Eva), Dorothy Rupps (Michael Dufty), Tony Rupps (Lynette) and Richard Rupps; seven grandchildren: Nikki Eva (Michael Rice), Michael Eva, Dennis Eva (Mélanie), Nigel Dufty (Narisse Christensen), Anna Dufty (Alan Tang), Jordan Silbernagel (Brett) and Ashlyn Rupps (Clay Snider); and five great-grandchildren: Caelum Rice, Sébastian & Coralie Eva, and Parker & Colt Silbernagel. He is also survived by Alena’s five children, Evelyn’s four children, and their families.
The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Chan, his family doctor who always made time for Dad; the staff at Amy McClure House; and the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital where Dad spent the last 5 weeks.
The funeral will be held on December 16 at 1:00 PM at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Center, 915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon.

Dad generously supported many charities throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, it would put a smile on his face if you made a donation to a charity of your choice.
