Tony is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara (nee Selinger), with whom he celebrated 60 years of shared memories and devotion. Together, they raised three children: Karen, mother to Erika and Brittany (partner to Ced and mother to great-granddaughter Ophelia), and Karsten; Doug, married to Pek Lee, with children Evan and Eleanor; and Keith, father to Abigail.
Tony was the youngest in a large family. He was predeceased by his father (Baldazer), mother (Martzelena), and siblings Edith, Pius, Jack, Hilda, Ned, Walter, Mary, and Isidore. He is also survived by his sisters, Sr. Genevieve and Loretta, as well as a broad expanse of extended family and friends who deeply felt his influence.
After graduating from the School of Agriculture, Tony and his brother Isidore teamed up to establish a successful farming business near Hanley, which they managed and grew over four decades. Committed to the highest standards in agricultural practices, Tony also placed great emphasis on education, teaching farm management courses during the off-season. His passion for knowledge and community service was further showcased through his nearly decade-long leadership role on the Saskatoon East School Board.
Tony's adventures spanned from daring drives to Mexico and Montreal in his youth to countless travels across North America and Europe. Arizona, in particular, held a special place in his heart, where he and Barbara spent many winters, forging lifelong friendships.
Around their farmhouse, Tony's creativity manifested in his iron and stonework, adding a personal touch to their home. An avid curler, baseball and tennis player, Tony reveled in the camaraderie and playful competition these sports brought him.
With a quick wit, infectious sense of humour, and a love for socializing, Tony was a central figure in gatherings among his vast circle of friends and extended family. Many evenings were filled with laughter and card games, memories that will be fondly remembered.
The family would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Jon Moberly for his unwavering friendship and support during the latter years of Tony's life. His kindness and presence have left a lasting imprint.
In remembrance of Tony, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundations in lieu of flowers.
His spirit, warmth, and enduring influence will be celebrated by all who were fortunate to know him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 29, 2023 at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon).
Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
