Stan was born in Rose Valley to parents Joseph and Marjanna Lipka, who immigrated to Saskatchewan from Poland in 1929 to homestead and raise six children. His father valued education over staying and working on the farm, so Stan left home and set off to Foam Lake to complete high school before obtaining a business diploma in Saskatoon. Stan settled in Saskatoon and called it home for the remainder of his life. Saskatoon is where Stan started his family with Audrey Dube, established and built a prominent career as a business owner, a landlord, and a jack-of-all trades.
After trying his hand at a few jobs in and around Saskatoon, Stan embarked on his career in real estate working for his sister Helen and brother-in-law, Sam, at Saskatoon Real Estate & Insurance Co. LTD. A number of years later, he transitioned over to Canada Trust and in 1973, he and a couple partners established their own real estate and insurance business, Hub City Agencies Ltd. Stan had a successful career spanning over 40 years selling homes instead of houses, investments instead of businesses, in nearly every city and small town across the province. Along the way he employed and inspired numerous agents and staff, including his eldest son who continues in his father’s footsteps to this day.
In 2000, Stan married Kalene and together they transitioned smoothly into retirement. They took many trips together visiting several countries and continents, but no place gave him greater joy than the family cabin at Chitek Lake, where he would spend his days puttering in and around the cabin. Nothing delighted him more than hosting his kids and grandkids up for a weekend and he was always game for hosting anyone - friends or family alike - who could be convinced to come for a visit.
Throughout the entirety of Stan’s life, his greatest passions were spending time with his family and friends, and helping his sons as they establish their own careers and build families of their own. Even in his later years, Stan’s social calendar was always full. Whether it was a game of kaiser, watching his son curl or grandkids in school performances, or hunting at Delaronde with buddies, Stan thrived when he was surrounded by the people he loved.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kalene and his sons Trent (Tasha, children Aidan and Taylor), Sheldon, and Ryan (Caitlyn, children Wesley and Patsy), all from Saskatoon. Also cherishing his memory are his stepdaughters Tania Shia (Tim, children Chloë, Hannah and Olivia) from Toronto and Jolene Zidkovich in Saskatoon. He is also survived by a brother Joe Lipka from Edmonton, brother-in-law Sherman Krahenbil (Evie) from Meadow Lake, and many nieces and nephews who loved to visit with their uncle. Stan was predeceased by his parents, sisters Sophie Janeczko (John, deceased), Helen Kays (Sam, deceased) and Wanda Michnik (Frank, deceased), and a brother Ted Lipka (Alva, deceased).
Celebration of Stan’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at Acadia Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive Saskatoon). Interment will take place at a later date.
