It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Zaidan (née Cowper), announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at St. Paul's Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Zaidan, Rita will be greatly missed by her children, Jacquie Lomax (Harvey); Vanessa Zaidan (Mark Schnell); John Zaidan (Charlene); Richard Zaidan (Karen); Raymond Zaidan; Yvonne Lynch (Rob); Kathy Zaidan (Malcolm Adams). Grandchildren, Leanne Lomax-Forden (Lyle Forden); Patricia Peters (Curtis); Anthony Lomax (Andrew McNaughton); Kaley Lomax (Lynn Gaudin); Ryan Schnell (Janine Rover de Mello); Nicole Schnell (Jack Slee); Joel and Rudy Zaidan; Joshua, Lexi and Noah Zaidan; Rory, Desmond and Caitlin Lynch. Great-grandchildren Carter, Declan and Mara Forden; Lucas, Micah and Liam Peters; Roan Gaudin-Lomax; Oliver Rover Schnell. Predeceased by her dear husband Raymond, brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Maggie Cowper and sister Maura Polkinghorne, Rita will be lovingly missed by her brother Desmond O'Donoghue (Nora) and sister Eileen O'Donoghue (Paddy), of Newcastle West, Limerick, brother-in-law Michael Polkinghorne of Kent, England, as well as her special nieces and nephews in Ireland. Rita was born in Newcastle West, County Limerick, Ireland on May 16, 1936. At eighteen, she completed her Nurse's training at Mater Hospital, Dublin. Rita and Raymond were married April 23, 1958. With their six children they immigrated to Canada arriving in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, October, 1969 where their youngest daughter was later born. Rita was known for her vivacious personality, sense of humour, infectious laugh, her deep love for family and life-long friends and for her devoted faith. She was an engaging conversationalist and with her welcoming presence and gift of hospitality, a joy to be around. She accepted, loved and supported her children and grandchildren through difficult times and celebrated with delight their successes. Nothing was more important to her than the well being of her family and friends and she will be dearly missed. Our devoted mum and beloved granny will always remain the heart of our family. The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathon Hey, Dr. Basi and all the staff at St. Paul's Hospital for the attentive care they gave to our Mum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Paul's Hospital Foundation or to a charity of your choice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, St. Paul's Co-Cathedral (720 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon) at 1:30 p.m. with Very Reverend Fr.
