
I was away from Saskatoon Nov - April so when I returned I learned of Patrick’s passing.  I am sad to have lost a former friend and colleague. He was a very good teacher, patient, very knowledgeable with computers.  His students admired his skills and sense of humour.  He was a big asset to the college .

I was saddened to hear of Pat’s passing from his brother Gary today.
I played bass with their band, The Diplomats, in 1967/68. 
It was the first good band I had the good fortune to play with.  Wayne Appenheimer played lead guitar with them, and I will never forget my first gig with them at Regina’s Trianon dance hall on April 1, 1967.
Pat included a length of chain in his drum kit, stating that it could come in handy if the patrons ever became rowdy!  Happily it was never used.  I also fondly remember playing at a roller rink pavilion up at Madge Lake where Gary, Wayne, and myself had to surround Pat with our amplifiers laying on their backs, facing up in the middle of the building, while the crowd danced all around us.

Maureen and I would like to send our sincere condolences to Heather, Angela, Mitch and the boys. Thinking of Pat takes me back to the 60's and our days of being weekend warriors with our rock bands, The Diplomats and then The Frenetic Illusion. Side note, our Mom, Berdeen, came up with the name! She was our biggest fan. Pat and I were very close during our teenage years. We had lots of fun touring around the province playing gigs at every small town in Southern Saskatchewan. Just last summer we were reminiscing about those days. He remembered all kinds of stories that I had forgotten about. Pat became a great husband, father and grandfather. He was just an all around nice guy. He had a great sense of humour. Everyone felt at ease with him. I'm happy that we had time together in March to say goodbye. It was a wonderful celebration of his life. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. But, we have faith that we will all be together again gathered in God's eternal love.

My sincere condolences to my sister-in-law, Heather, as well as Angela, Mitch and the boys. Pat will be greatly missed by me and my husband, kids and grandkids. He was truly an amazing person. I have so many great memories. Every day, waiting for Pat and Heather to pull up after school and hiding in the back of the car until Pat came back and kicked me out except a couple times when he pretended he didn’t know I was there and took me took me to McDonald’s; being the flower girl at Pat and Heather’s wedding; introducing us to the music of Larry Norman and Amy Grant; giving me the pin with “Jesus gives living water”; my Sorel boots; always having a smile on his face; always there when spiritual advice and prayer was needed; every kid loving him. I will miss you  miss dearly big brother. 

Pat always brought people together. When I was a child he made sure we had family reunions with music, games and skits so much fun. When we met in Saskatoon Pat would always put tables together in rows at restaurant so we could all sit together. When we met at restaurants we would always get kicked out because it would be after closing lol. Pat you were an amazing brother and uncle. I remember you saying at Shayna’s celebration of life that some of us would see her faster than others.  You also quoted ‘O death where is your victory? O death where is your sting?’ 1cor 15:55 I know you are in heaven dancing on streets of gold because you gave all yourself to Christ our Lord. Pat you are a wonderful example to how we should live our lives, sold out to the Lord Jesus, being in an intimate relationship with Him. Thank you big brother for the birthday plaques with scriptures, for Larry Norman, Barry Mcquire, Amy Grant, Trans Siberian orchestra,  and so much wonderful music! For all the dice games! For being an excellent uncle who truly listened and truly cared.Love you and see you again
