Patricia Ann Thomson

Patsy was born in North Battleford, the fifth child of Edward A. and Blanche K. Chase. She was raised in Meota on Jackfish Lake. She chose to move to Saskatoon to complete her high school education at Bedford Road Collegiate. Upon completion, she entered nursing training at Saskatoon City Hospital, graduating in 1953. While in training, she met Bobby Thomson on a blind date and they were married October 10, 1953. They shared 61 loving years until Bobby's passing in 2014. Together they raised their children in "the little red house" on Albert Avenue.

Throughout the years, Pat returned part time to her nursing career at City Hospital. She also belonged to or was affiliated with Unicef, Centennial Auditorium Board, SCH Nurses Alumni, SCH Festival of Trees. Century Saskatoon Committee, The Children's Festival. Ronald McDonald House, Saskatoon Music Festival. Grandmothers for Grandmothers, and was a lifetime member of the "Diamondettes". This a very abbreviated list of her interests. In recognition of her many volunteer endeavors, Pat was recognized as the 1987 YWCA Woman of Distinction for Community Involvement.

Pat was a woman of many talents, particularly music, which was her passion. Over the years, she composed music and lyrics, music for others' lyrics, wrote new arrangements for existing pieces, and created and wrote compositions for HandBell Choirs. Three of her Handbell pieces were chosen to represent Canada at International Handbell Symposia in Albuquerque (1996), England (2000), and Orlando (2008). She sang with the University Chorus and St. Martin's United Church Sanctuary Choir. The "Singing Mums" was a group of Pat and three great friends who entertained around the community and shared their gifts of fun and happiness wherever they performed.

Pat kept physically active playing golf and tennis well into her 70's. She competed in the Senior games in tennis. She and Bobby were also members of the Wineskins Cross Country Ski Club.

Pat was known by many to have the spirit of Pollyanna and she was an eternal optimist, forever positive, and excessively cheerful. She will be remembered for her caring attitude and beautiful spirit.

Pat was predeceased by her husband Bobby, her parents Edward and Blanche Chase, sister Maude Steele, brothers George, Dave, and Don Chase, son-in-law Bob Stefaniuk, and grandson Christopher Stefaniuk.

She is survived by brother Bryce Chase, children Susan Stefaniuk, Lynn Martens (Art), Judy Thomson, Dick Thomson (Bev), Diane Leonhardt (Wayne), B-J Diduck (Andy), 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Pat's Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St. Martin's United Church, 2617 Clarence Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK.
