Norm was born May 23, 1947 in Unity, Saskatchewan to John & Theresa (Sperle) Meier. He had 2 siblings, an older sister Shirley who passed away in 2018 & a younger brother Gerald of Edmonton, AB. He grew up in the Rosemary District about 5 miles from Unity on the family farm. They lived a 1/2 mile from the Rosemary school where, Norm, Shirley & Gerald all went to school. In 1964 the Rosemary school closed and everyone was bused to Unity. I believe around that time the family farm was sold and they moved to Saskatoon.
At some point Norm started working for International Harvester as their yard attendant. He eventually went to work for the International Harvester dealership, L & S Equipment in Saskatoon. That's where he found his knack for sales. Once he had his first sale, it was no stopping him!
He met the love of his life, Islay in Saskatoon and they were married July 27, 1968. They had one daughter, Leah who was born in 1973. In 1977 they moved to Rosthern, where Norm and two partners, Mike & Spencer started MNS Equipment, the International dealership. They resided in Rosthern until 1992 and moved back to Saskatoon where he worked for Case Power & Equipment until it was bought out by Redhead Equipment holding the position of Sales Manager until moving on. They made a move to Rosetown for a few years while Norm ran Wheatland Industries, the New Holland dealership. In 2006 they eventually made Saskatoon their final place to call home. Norm worked for Moody's in Saskatoon doing what he loved travelling the country roads selling farming equipment and visiting with his farmer customers. He worked there till he retired at the age of 70.
Norm was well known in the agriculture sales industry and almost every time you went somewhere with him, he would always see someone he knew. He was kind hearted, had a funny, joking personality and loved to joke around with people, he absolutely loved sitting down and telling stories of past things he had done, he had a love for children and always had a lasting impression on them. Norm touched the lives of those who knew him. He loved to spend time with friends and family, go on vacations, spend time in the yard, and was likely always fixing something.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Islay (Thompson) Meier, of almost 53 years, his parents John & Theresa Meier, mother & father in-law Murray & Dorothy Thompson, Sister Shirley Selzer, brother-in law Colin Thompson.
He is survived by his only daughter Leah Meier, family pet Lily, brother Gerald Meier, grandson Jeremie Duval, several nieces, nephews, cousins, close family friends, customers, former employees and acquaintances.
