Myrna Berwick passed away peacefully on Saturday May 4, 2024 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre. Predeceased by her loving partner Ed (Edward) Androsoff, niece Michelle Simmonds and nephew Darryl Garland, she is survived by her sister Rema Simmonds and nieces Beverly Garland and Amy Simmonds.
Raised on a small farm near Raymore SK, Myrna moved to Saskatoon for high school and graduated from Saskatoon Technical Collegiate Institute in 1959. Always a hard worker, she returned to school to obtain her Commerce degree in 1984 from the U of S and then became a Certified General Accountant in 1986. She worked with Hergott Duval Stack & Partners until her retirement. Never afraid to voice her opinion, she was a valuable advisor and friend to her co-workers and clients.
Away from the office, Myrna was an avid golfer and badminton player, casually as well as in competitive tournaments, travelled with Ed and their friends, enjoyed playing bridge and amassed a large pin collection from different locations and events. She and Ed would host wonderful parties with a selection of their favorite wines from their sizable collection. Myrna maintained her affinity for golf and wine as long as her health allowed (and perhaps even a little longer than that).
She also offered her time freely, giving generously back to her profession, the Saskatoon business community and her love of golf by volunteering in many capacities over the years. She was the first female Board member and President of CGA Saskatchewan, and their representative on the CGA Canada national board. Myrna volunteered with SaskGolf and was a committee member for a number of National events hosted in Saskatchewan. She was on the board of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce for 6 years, the Sask Place Board for 7 years (including 2 as President) and received a YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 2003. She greatly enjoyed her time volunteering, and all of the friends she made through these activities, but it also left her with a lasting regret – they would never let her drive the Zamboni at Sask Place.
A Celebration of Life for Myrna and Ed will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday June 6, 2024 at Riverside Country Club (3180 Grasswood Road, Riverside Estates). Friends, families and those who wish to share in their memory are encouraged to attend.
Arrangements entrusted to Kenton Brownridge.
