It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen (nee Syroteuk) Taylor on February 9, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Maureen is survived by her husband Rodney and her four daughters: Angela (Gabe) Hennings, Jamie Taylor (Steffen Bertelsen), Lisa Taylor (Jason Fege) and Kimberly (Ricky) Andreas. She was a loving grandmother to her two grandchildren: Bill (son of Angela and Gabe) and Violet (daughter of Lisa & Jason). She is also survived by her siblings: Mike (Joan) Syroteuk, Marvin Syroteuk, Joanne (Roman) Mesec, Pat Syroteuk, Kevin (Sandra) Syroteuk, Lorianne (Kevin) Earis, and Jennifer (Marcus) Ziegler as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Alice Syroteuk.
Maureen grew up on a farm near Burr, SK and attended high school in Humboldt. After graduation she moved to Saskatoon for business college. She met the love of her life, Rod, and they were married in August 1977. Maureen worked as an accounting clerk at Federated Co-op for 9 years before starting her family with Rod. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. Maureen was an active volunteer in her community as a Brownie leader, a member of the Band Parents Council at Holy Cross High School, as well as various roles at Holy Spirit Parish where she was a member of the Catholic Women’s League executive. She enjoyed watching her children participate in activities such as ringette, softball, curling, and music. Maureen had many talents and interests. She was gifted at embroidery and sewing and used her skills to create many treasured items for family members. Maureen was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable garden every summer. She was also an excellent chef and spent many hours lovingly preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Maureen’s favourite place to spend time was at the cabin at Jackfish Lake. There she enjoyed many different activities such as fishing, waterskiing, and snowmobiling. Maureen was a devoted grandmother who adored spending quality time with Bill and Violet. She was a kind, humble, and generous person who always put the needs of others before her own and she will be missed greatly by those who loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday February 16, 2024, at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon).
