It is with sadness that our family announces Judy’s passing on Friday, August 11th. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Rachel, sister Arlene (Allan) Blair, sister in-law Joyce Hodge and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Elwood Sharp and parents John and Edythe Valleau.
Judy was born in Carrot River and grew up in Melfort. As a young person Judy was very active in basketball and C.G.I.T. She loved the outdoors and spending time camping at Kipabiskau and Waskesiu. She met her husband Elwood while attending the University of Saskatchewan. Judy was a brilliant teacher who spent most of her teaching career as a teacher librarian. Along with caring for her family she played the flute and volunteered. Unfortunately, in the mid-80s Judy was diagnosed with Chronic Progressive M.S. After the diagnosis she kept teaching and being active as long as she could. As the M.S. progressed, she continued to enjoy life by visiting with family and friends, watching the Riders, listening to audio books and writing poetry.
The family wishes to extend thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Stensrud Lodge who made Judy’s last 17 months comfortable and happy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street, Saskatoon).
