Mr. Joseph Hounjet, beloved husband to Alice, peacefully passed away at his home at the age of 89 on Friday, January 10, 2014, surrounded and supported by the love of his family. Joseph will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice (nee Raymond), Their 8 children Daniel (Hélène), Gisèle, Maurice (Alice), Denise (Louis), Céline, Jean-Paul (Anna), Yvonne (David), and Aline (Pat), their 25 grand-children Patrick, Carine (Jared), Valérie, Joanne(Scott), Wendy(Ben), Lisa(Laurier), Joey(Stephanie), Janelle(Jared), Marc, Eric(Carrie), Brigitte, Gregory, Jonathan(Elizabeth), François, Norman(Lauren), Josée(Graeme), Stephan(Kelly), Sarah, Mykola, Oksana, Nicolas, Aimée, Nicole, Lucas, and Thomas, Their 16 great grand-children Nathanial, Jamie, Danielle, Maïa, Makéo, Kobi, Kaleb, Alexandre, Samuel, Geneviève, bébé Prisciak, Elise, Declan, Sébastien, Annabelle, and Christian. Joseph was predeceased by his parents Victorine and François Hounjet, his siblings, and son-in-law Ross Bell. Joseph was born and raised in Prud’homme, Saskatchewan, the youngest of eight. In 1950, he married Alice Raymond. Joseph was a loving father, grand-father and great grand-father. He loved to farm, drive, play cards, watch EWTN and did a lot of reading. He also loved working with wood. In 2007, Joe and Alice moved to Saskatoon. First to an apartment and then to a condo. Joseph was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic parishes in Prud’homme and in Saskatoon and it was important to him that his family followed a Christian life. He was a strong supporter of the pro-life movement and attended many of the Marches For Life in Ottawa, Regina and Saskatoon. Joseph loved to have family and friends visit in his home. One could always count on him to defend farmers and to engage in discussions. The family wishes to thank Dr. Aimo Berger, Dr. Rebecca Mackay, the Palliative Care Nurses, Home Health Care Aids, the Oncology Day Center Nurses and all those who donate blood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Campaign Life Coalition Sask (P.O. Box 22084 RPO Wildwood, Saskatoon, SK S7H 5P1) or (Chalice 445 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, NS B4C 2S1). The Vigil for Joseph will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15th and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 16th. Both services will be held at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place, Saskatoon) . Rite of Committal to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
