Uncle Gerry,Uncle Gerry was not only my uncle but also a great friend. He was a great visitor and liked to keep in touch on the phone, for coffee or suppers out. He called me often and just wanted to know that I was alright. After asking about my mother, Lewis, Chelsea, Jess and all of my grandchildren he would say ""Well it seems like everything is going fine"" and he was always satisfied with that.His favorite topic was his family. He was very proud of Scott and Jody and Carla and Rick but his shining stars were his grandchildren. Every conversation he proudly told me about Brook, Tyler, Austin, Kennedy, Hailey and Camden and what each one of them were up to with Aunt Rita filling in the details. He told me often how important it was for me to spend time with my grandchildren when they were little so that they would know me and remember me when I was older. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and I assured him that I spent lots of quality time with my grandchildren.Uncle Gerry and Aunt Rita helped me while I was working towards my Education Degree by opening their house to me to stay with them while I was studying at University. Uncle Gerry always introduced me as his niece but he jokingly told neighbors that if I did anything wrong while I was there that I was Rita's niece.Uncle Gerry was there for me during all of the important events of my life. He spoke at my wedding which was hard for him to do but he really wanted to do a good job. He was at Chelsea and Jessica's graduation, he was there for me when my stepfather Gordon passed away, he was at our 25th Anniversary, he was at the airport with us when a young Chelsea went to South America by herself, and he enjoyed being at Jessica's wedding. He visited Mom in hospital and supported me numerous times during her illnesses and always invited me to stay in ""my room"".Uncle Gerry also wanted to do something special for me as a keepsake in memory of my father, David Cunningham, his older brother. He commissioned Carla make a beautiful scrap book of pictures of my Dad, Uncle Ken, Aunt Juniata, Aunt Pat and himself as children. Uncle Gerry thought they were pretty cute little stinkers (not the word he used). It is a keepsake that I will treasure all of my life.I had spoken with him in April and again in May and told him all about our trip to B.C. with Chelsea, Warren and our four grandchildren and told him that we were heading out again in June for our 40th Anniversary.  First of all he couldn't believe that it was our 40th and said ""Holy -----""  and he jokingly asked me how many grandkids we were taking with us because he knew how special they were to us.Uncle Gerry was an important part of my life and will be sadly missed.Shelley

We wanted to share our condolences with Gerry’s family. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to a loved one. The pain of loss can be unbearable. Our Creator promises us that one day this pain will be just a memory. That beautiful promise can be found at Revelation 21:3,4. Our pain and suffering will be a thing of the past, and we can cry tears of joy as we welcome back the ones that we love so much. We hope you find comfort in those promises.

Thinking of Gerry's family at this difficult time. I remember babysitting Scott and Carla  and always enjoyed Gerry's sense of humour. 

We are thinking of you Rita and Scott and Carla and families at such a sad time. We wish we could be there! Take care and God bless all of you!

We are so sorry to hear of Gerry’s untimely passing. We have many fond memories of him.
