It is with heavy hearts, but many wonderful memories, we say farewell to Doug Sampson, a beloved father, devoted husband, and cherished friend. Doug passed away peacefully at St. Paul's Hospital on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the age of 67, with his family by his side. Lovingly remembered by his wife Judy, daughter Lori (Gerry), grandchildren Callum, Kinley and Harrison, son Ryan (Tennille) grandchildren Jovi and Rowen, daughter Ashley (Kevin), brother Terry (Cindy), sister Cathy (Mike) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his father Albin Sampson, mother Joyce Sampson and brother Len Sampson.
Doug grew up in Saskatoon where he met his wife, Judy. They spent a few short years in Regina before moving back to Saskatoon and settling back into a new home in Montgomery. As a devoted father, he nurtured and guided his children, instilling in them values of compassion, perseverance, and the importance of family bonds. His unwavering love and support created an environment in which his children could thrive, carrying his spirit forward.
Doug was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds with his wife in their retirement years together. Doug’s enthusiasm for sports extended beyond the golf course and included watching many NFL games when the season kicked off in the fall. When not watching sports, Doug found joy in spending time at home in their yard or watching the latest blockbuster movies and TV shows.
Doug felt very blessed to have such a loving family and was so very proud of them, along with an amazing circle of friends in his life. He will be forever missed.
The family wishes to express a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at St. Paul's Hospital, especially those in the Intensive Care Unit. They provided exceptional care and compassion, easing his journey and bringing solace to the entire family. The Sampson family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors whose dedication and professionalism made an indelible impact during this challenging time.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Doug's life will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Friday July 7th, 2023 at 3437 Caen Street, Saskatoon, SK.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation in Doug's name.
