Don was born at the family home in Brooksby, Saskatchewan on August 5th 1938, to William Jones and Estella (Hawley) Jones. Making him the youngest of their eight children. The family resided in Revelstoke, British Columbia and Melfort, Saskatchewan for most of his young life until his mother’s death when he was just 10 years old. Because of his young age he went to live with a couple of his siblings. He was on his own by the time he was 17.
Don met his future wife Margaret when they rented rooms in the same boarding house. Two 19 year olds looking for some new adventures. It must have been love at first sight as he proposed to her three months after they first met. They were married for 64 years until Margaret’s death in 2022. Who says that if you marry young it won’t last?
Don and Marg lived in Saskatoon for the majority of their married lives with short stints in Vancouver and Revelstoke, British Columbia.
They were blessed with two daughters and one son. Their children were the world to them. The added bonus was when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren started coming along. It was something to see the sparkle in their eyes.
Those of us left to mourn are his children: Melinda (Art) Bueckert, Glen (Maricel) Jones, Barb (Greg) Adilman; grandchildren: Chad (Lisa) Bueckert, Kyle (Kelly) Bueckert, Tyler (Lindsay) Bueckert, Josh (Krislene) Adilman, Brittany (Jith) Thomas, Jordan (Chloe) Adilman, Cheyenne Jones and Kieran Jones; as well as 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024 at the Hope Fellowship Church (809 - 32nd Street West, Saskatoon). Arrangements entrusted to Brady Levesque.
