It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Cockle, who left us peacefully on the morning of June 1, 2022 in the presence of family. Charlie was born in Kelvington on November 5, 1934, to parents Frederick and Ivy Cockle. He had one sibling, Hazel Milne, who passed away in 2008. Charlie spent the first 7 years of his life on the family farm in the district of Farmingdale, Sask. There, he attended the one-room school for a single day, before contracting the whooping cough. By the time he recovered, the family had relocated to Saskatoon. Charlie attended school at King George, Victoria, Nutana, and Saskatoon Technical Collegiate. He also spent a portion of his childhood living in Kamloops, BC. After graduating, Charlie worked for McGavin’s Bakery and Canada Packers in Saskatoon, as well as Imperial Oil in Squamish, BC. In 1958, he began working for Westeel, where he served for 41 years. Charlie met many people while working on the road for Westeel, and thanks to his sense of humour and easygoing nature, he made copious friends during his time there. In 1955 at a local dancehall, Charlie met Beatrice Morgan, who taught him how to dance. They married in 1959 and had two children, who they raised in their house in Westview. They lived there until 2014 when they moved to Elim Lodge. Charlie spent his retirement golfing, visiting neighbours, and keeping their spacious backyard in perfect condition. Most Sundays were spent at Fuddruckers with several of his dearest friends. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bea, daughter Leeann (Colin), son Chris (Natalia), as well as 3 grandchildren: Erin (Alex), Morgan (Keeley), and Samuel (Mikayla). A Graveside Service is open to all and will be conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 2nd Ave N, Saskatoon) at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 6, 2022. In lieu of flowers, in Charles memory we ask that you donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Travis Minor.
