Al was born in Winnipeg, MN to Charlotte and Frederick Saher on January 26, 1921. He was married to Dorothy Evelyn Gregor on March 9, 1946. Al was a wonderful, devoted husband to Dorothy “Dot” Saher, predeceased in 1981, and father to Robert Allan, predeceased in 1978. He was also predeceased by his sister Elsa and brother Edward. Al served in the Navy during World War II where he honed his culinary skills. He continued to enjoy the art of cooking his entire life. He was so very proud of his days in the Navy. He began his working career as a sheet metal worker manufacturing the equipment that he later would sell as a salesman of commercial restaurant and hospital equipment. Al and Dot moved from Regina to Toronto in the late 60’s, opening up a confectionery store in Guelph, ON. In the early 70’s he and Dot moved to Saskatoon to be closer to their twin grand-daughters and family. He began a career in the hardware business and later was a Real Estate Agent selling commercial property in Saskatoon. In his retirement years he enjoyed golfing, bowling, painting, and cooking. Al is survived by his sister Donna Bryce (Tommy) of Pitt Meadows, BC; son Rick Saher (Norma) of Saskatoon; daughter Wendy Johnson (Ken) of Palm Desert, CA; grand daughters Peggy Gronsdahl (Kevin) of Assiniboia, SK, Joanne Saher (Cam Aldridge) of Fort Collins, CO, and Nicelle Orlando of Palm Desert, CA; great-grandchildren Megan, Connor and Jenna Gronsdahl of Assiniboia, SK, and Matthew and Adam Aldridge of Fort Collins, CO.
