Alfred (Al) Akre passed away at the age of 92 at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre after a long life, well lived, and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Alfred farmed the original Akre homestead at Strongfield, SK for many years and later spent winters installing flooring in Saskatoon. Alfred was trained in bookkeeping and worked for various businesses in southern Ontario during the war years and in Saskatoon during the late 1940s. Alfred was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (nee Hamre); parents, Petra and Ludvig Akre; brothers, Lars "Larry" (Win) and Magnus, (Edna); sisters, Olena (Jock) Imrie (and niece Sharon), Gunda (Roy) Thorns, Hilda (Cass) Zagrosh; and brother- in-law, Keith McMillan. Left to remember him are his sons, Leland of Saskatoon, Kevin (Kathy) of Cochrane, AB and Collin (Janice) of Winnipeg, MB; granddaughter, Tracy (Francesco) Governini and great-grandson, Teo of Italy, granddaughter, Krista (Justin) Kellock, and great-granddaughter, Olivia of Alberta. Alfred is also survived by sister, Katherine McMillan of Winnipeg, MB. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families. Memorial Service to be held at Acadia McKague's Funeral Centre, at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015 with interment and reception at Skudesnes Lutheran Church Cemetery near Strongfield, SK at about 5:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre and to Preston Park Retirement Centre. Memorial donations can be made to the charitable organization of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Acadia- McKague's Funeral Centre.
