Albert Robert Joseph Joubert

Albert (Al) Robert Joubert passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, on Thursday April 13, 2023, at the age of 76 years. Along with Judy, his beloved wife of 56 years, Al leaves to cherish his memory: children, Glen (Dawn) Joubert, Rhonda (Brent) Schreiner; granddaughters, Marlee Joubert and Amber Schreiner; as well as his brother, Roland (Henriette) Joubert, brothers-in-law Don Greggain, Brian Rainbow and Bob Rainbow. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Armancia Joubert, his Sister Aline Greggain, his infant sister Edna Joubert, and his grandparents Albert and Marie-Anne Joubert, and Eugene and Laura Gaudet.

Al was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on Friday, May 3, 1946. He was educated in Prince Albert at St. Mary’s High School and P.A. Tech. Judy and Al were married on February 4, 1967. Al spent almost 40 years of his career at Intercontinental Packers (Mitchell’s Gourmet Foods), ending his career as the Credit Manager when he retired in 2005. Al enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadiens as well as the Toronto Blue Jays. Al spent much of his spare time hunting and fishing as well as entertaining and socializing around the campfire and on the deck with friends and family at Meeting Lake. Al was especially proud of building the family cabin in 1976 along with Rhonda and Brent’s cabin in 2005. His talents also allowed him to “supervise” the construction of many other cabins. Al’s passion for archery hunting was shared with his brother Roland. Many of the people in Al’s life relied on his self-taught skills and generosity to lend a hand building, fixing or modifying anything. This led to Al being referred to as “Mr. fix-it”. His greatest pride was his family: his wife, children, granddaughters Marlee and Amber, siblings and friends with whom he loved spending time with. Al and Judy spent many winters with Brian and Peg “down south” in Yuma where they made new friends under the warm Arizona sun.

A private celebration of Al’s life will be held at a future date. The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care team who cared for and supported Al in his home. The family would also like to thank friends and family who visited Al and Judy during his illness.
