It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tim Wilson, a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ - son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Tim was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Sarasota, FL. He resided in Port Charlotte with his loving wife, Beth. He was a member of New Day Church, where he found joy in faithfully and selflessly serving others. His favorite verse became Joshua 1:9 reading “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Last summer, the worship song that ministered to his heart was "For the Love of God."
Tim's greatest joy in life was being with his family. Spending time at home with his wife, Sunday family dinners, and hosting cookouts and get-togethers with family and friends brought him great happiness. He loved taking his grandkids for rides in the side-by-side, working out in his garage, tending to his yard, and spending time with his dog Eli.
He had a childhood full of love from and for his parents and his siblings. He considered his brothers and sister his greatest friends. He had a gift for fixing vehicles, which he learned by working in the family business with his dad. His skills earned him an honest living and created opportunities to help take care of people. When the kids were younger, you could find him working on dirt bikes with the boys or shopping with his daughters. He treasured many fun trips with his wife, family, and grandkids.
Tim cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews, enjoyed making them laugh, and was always there when they needed him. Playing with his grandchildren brought him immense joy, especially seeing them smile as they played in the pool or the tree fort, chased chickens around the yard, and made countless wonderful childhood memories at his home. He worked hard to create a home where everyone felt loved, cherished, and welcomed, and where the kids could have a safe place and a ton of fun.
Tim's love for the Lord was unwavering and he lived his life with a heart full of faith and devotion. He was known for his kindness, strength, and caring nature. Tim was a natural leader who served others with a generous spirit. Though hard-headed in his beliefs, his firm stance only highlighted his dedication and love for those around him.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Lilly Wilson and Thomas Wilson, Sr., his brother, Ed Wilson, and his granddaughter, Jaliyah Marie. He leaves behind his siblings, Junior Wilson and Bob and Terri Sommers, and his loving and faithful wife, Beth Wilson. He is also survived by his children, Lindsay and Mike Swetavage, Clay and Caitlyn Wilson, Abby Wilson, Jared and Ashley Culbertson, Daniel Culbertson, and Megan and Mason Rose. As well as 11 grandchildren, Ally, Madison, Jaxson, Colton, Bristol, Timothy Joseph (TJ), Brady, Ellie, Emma, Aubrey, and Ava, who brought immense joy, laughter, and happiness to his life.
Tim's legacy of faith, love, and service will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His vision for his family will live on through his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now with his Lord and Savior in heaven and would want everyone he knew and loved to have an abundant relationship with the Lord as well.
His family invites you to join them for Tim’s celebration of life service, where they will be honoring his life and legacy.
The service will be held at New Day Christian Church, 20212 Peachland Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33954 on Sunday, July 14th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, consider a potted plant for Tim’s memorial garden. If you would like to make a memorial gift in Tim’s honor, you can donate to the Safe Haven SWFL Inc by check at the celebration of life service or mail to 1300 Enterprise Drive Suite A, Port Charlotte, FL 33953.
