Roger James Million, 74, died of complications due to Cancer on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Bradenton Florida.
Roger was born Sunday, June 9, 1940 in Corvallis, Oregon to Harold (Jim) and Edna Mae (Smith) Million. He spent his early years and adolescence growing up in the Panama Canal Zone; regularly exploring the interior and attending “Ping Ding’s” as he was a true “Zonian”. He graduated from Balboa High School, attended The Citadel of South Carolina, Canal Zone College, and later served in the U.S. Army.
He met the love of his life Alba (Mary) Wilmoth and they later married in the Canal Zone at the Balboa Union Church on July 5, 1966. He and his family spent most of their early years in Somerset, New Jersey where he was a Sales & Marketing manager for Westinghouse and North American Phillips Corporation both nationally and internationally. He and his wife Mary later retired to Bradenton, Florida where he was the owner of Superior Shutters. He enjoyed traveling and becoming an active member of the Peridia Community as well as its past president.
He was an avid golfer, bowler, 66’ Mustang enthusiast and enjoyed socializing with large groups of friends. He could often be found on the dance floor with his wife Mary. Additionally he was active in the Presbyterian Church, Panama Canal Zone Society, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Order of DeMolay, Shriners International, Order of Elks, Boy Scouts of America and coaching youth sports.
He is survived by his wife Mary, three sons Roger Jr., David and Michael, one grandson Peyton and four granddaughters Milan, Melanie, Nicole and Savanna, one sister Shirley. Preceding him in death was his daughter Karen, and brother Gordon.
Services will be held at the Braden River Presbyterian Church located at 5150 Peridia Blvd. E., Bradenton, FL 34203 on Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at 10 A.M. with a short reception to follow at the clubhouse.
