Richard P. Linenger (74) passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, September 3rd, 2021 after a 4 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Dick was born to Paul and Marion Linenger (deceased) on December 31, 1946 in Detroit, MI. He attended East Detroit High School along with his siblings and many cousins. Dick married his wife of 47 years, Sue Borland, on March 2, 1974.
They lived their first years of marriage in Michigan where Dick and Sue owned and sold many successful businesses. During that time their two children, Jeff and Dana, were born. Their entrepreneurial spirit led them to Sarasota, FL in 1986, to continue to grow their business, Asphalt Repair Service. Dick’s love of boating and watching football as well as running their business made him a happy man. Their children both graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School and started their own careers. The family grew as Dana married Rod Tulloss and Jeff married April. Dick was delighted with the birth of 5 grandchildren; Josh (15), Catherine (14), Lauren (12), David (12), and Andrew (9) who were the joy of his life. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Morris (Dick, deceased) and brothers James (Theresa) and Robert (Debra) and many family and friends who loved him and enriched his life.
Dick will forever be known as a kind and honest man who everyone just loved to be around. He will be greatly missed for countless reasons; most of all as the loving husband to Sue, dad to Jeff and Dana and the best “Grampa”. Dick’s entrepreneurial legacy continues to thrive today in the capable hands of his son, Jeff, running Asphalt Repair Service.
There will be a memorial mass to honor Dick’s life on Friday, September 10th 2021, at The Church of The Incarnation at 2901 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL 34239. Mass will be held from 9:30-10:30 am. A live stream of the service will be available on www.incarnationchurch.org. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, lbda.org.
