Patricia “Pat” Mullin Knott of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Dallas, Texas, passed away on November 10, 2022 at the age of 92 surrounded by her children. Pat was born on August 15, 1930 in Turkey, Texas to the late Guy E. Mullin and Juanita (nee Jago) Mullin. Pat grew up in Amarillo, Texas and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. Pat then attended Southern Methodist University, graduating in 1951. In 1952, Pat married her cherished husband, James Knott in Virginia where he was stationed in the Army.
Pat was an educator and taught first grade while Jim completed his military service and medical school. After several years in Corpus Christi, Texas, Pat and Jim moved their family to Dallas where they raised their two children and enjoyed many wonderful friends. Pat was a caring and loving wife and devoted mother. Pat and Jim moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2014, where they enjoyed their vacation retirement at the Sarasota Bay Club.
Pat was a member of the Dallas Junior League and Dallas Woman’s Club, and was involved with many charitable organizations. She was an avid reader and excellent bridge player, and took up additional hobbies with her new friends in Sarasota. She enjoyed travel throughout her life, and was always interested in new explorations and adventures, including during her years in Sarasota.
Pat is survived by her loving children Cindy Knott Taylor (Chris) of Tampa, Florida, and Kirk Edwin Knott (Karen) and granddaughter Natalie Kate Knott of Lexington, Kentucky, and her sister Charlotte Thoman (Bob) of Fresno, California. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Jim.
Pat will be laid to rest at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute.
