Martin H. Ross peacefully passed away February 2, 2021 in Longboat Key, Florida. Marty, as he was known by all, was the beloved husband for 57 years to Irene. He is also survived by three devoted children, Steven Ross of Tampa, FL, Jason Ross (Jodi) of Westport, CT, and Kimberly Ross of Chicago, IL; five adoring grandchildren, Alexa, Lauren, Jessica, Aviva, and Mickey; a sister, Natalie Ross (Robyn Golden) of Chicago, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Minnie and Barney Ross, and a sister, Arlene Zonder.
Marty was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and was a 1957 graduate of Wayne State University. He became a CPA and built a large and successful accounting practice in Lansing, Michigan, eventually merging his practice with Plante Moran and ultimately retiring to Longboat Key, Florida. He was an avid golfer (and golf ball fisherman) and proud member of the Longboat Key Club Bandits. He was an enthusiastic Michigan State Spartans fan. He had a keen sense of humor and was a loyal and trusted friend to all who knew him.
Marty was a strong supporter of numerous Jewish and other philanthropic causes and was an active member of the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek in East Lansing, Michigan, a 25-year member of Temple Beth Israel in Longboat Key, and a member of Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota.
