Kenneth C. Lucas, 93, passed away on January 11, 2017 in Sarasota, FL. He was born May 16, 1923 in Lakewood, Ohio and came to Florida 34 years ago. He retired in 1983 as Director of Operations after 37 years with TRW's Automotive Division in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and was elected to three scholastic honoraries: Bucket & Dipper, Romophos and Sphinx. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves during World War II and served four years in the Pacific theater. In Ohio he was an elder and charter member of the Rocky River Presbyterian Church where he served as Clerk of the Session for 11 years and served on the Christian Education and Personnel & Building committees. He served on the Board of Directors of the West Shore YMCA, was a member of the Y's Men's Club and the YMCA Century Club In Sarasota he volunteered for 15 years in the Finance Department of Sarasota Memorial Hospital and did volunteer auditing work in the office of the Sarasota Surf and Racquet Club. He was a member and elder of the Pines Shores Presbyterian Church and a current resident of The Glenridge on palmer ranch. Kenneth was predeceased by his son, Jim in 2002. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 67 years; his daughter, Debbie Coch and her husband, Dan of Grand Rapids, Michigan; four grandchildren, Tim Lucas of Florida, Kimberly Lucas of Ohio, Brian and Lindsay Coch of Michigan, Kevin and Michelle Coch of Wisconsin, two great grandchildren, Chloe and Owen, and two sisters, Ruth Thurber of Ohio and Barbara Fraser of Colorado. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, 6135 Beechwood Ave., Sarasota, Florida.
