John Frederick Sagar, 75, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on January 13, 2021, from Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, and his twin daughters, Colette, of South Carolina, and Heather, of Washington D.C.
John was born March 1, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan to Alan and Eva Sagar, who owned and operated the Esso Station (now White Hen Pantry) in Falmouth, MA. His parents kept him busy pumping gas and doing other odd jobs, instilling in him a strong work ethic. At Falmouth High School, John excelled as an athlete and was known for his love of soccer, cars, and shenanigans. John joined the Navy after high school, serving proudly in Cuba.
John met Pat at a party in 1968 and they were married shortly after in July of 1969. They raised their two daughters in Brewster, MA. He enjoyed sailing, hunting, camping, gardening, and of course, supporting New England sports teams. After earning master's degrees in business from the University of Massachusetts and in Hospital Administration from the University of South Carolina, he became the CFO of Boston University Hospital and Assistant Administrator of Falmouth Hospital. Once retired, John and Pat found their love for travel including cruising around the world.
John was a proud volunteer serving veterans' families at the Sarasota National Cemetery, which is also where he will also be laid to rest.
Due to COVID, no services will be held.
