John was born on September 26, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, to parents, Luca C. & Elena (Helen) Saputo Albano. He graduated from Martin van Buren High School & went on to take many college courses and banking, finance, & tax instruction. He was a banker by trade, but a tinker & collector by preference.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Luca & Helen; sisters, Rita Albano and Bernadette Miller; and brother, Luke Jr. He is survived by his children, John Jr, Margaret (Brett) Sands, and Thomas (Jessica); grandchildren, Julia, Tyler, Mason, Giovanni, Landon, Dino, Gianna, Nikolai, Enzo; sisters, Frances (Joseph) Rothenberg, and Martha Albano; several nieces and nephews; and his current favorite pet, Snowbell.
As John wore many hats, he also went by many monikers, such as Mr. A., Senior, John & Johnny, Uncle John, & My-Brother-John... but Grand-Pappy seemed to be his favorite. He love the song of any bird, the doting attention given by a loyal dog, the tepid hug of a small-to-medium snake, and spending time with friends and family. He loved the smell of fresh lilies, and would have them around whenever he was able.
A Celebration of John's life will be held from 2-5pm on Tuesday, February 27, at Robert Toale & Sons, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL, 34232.
