Ask anyone who Father Jim was and you will hear that he was the priest who started a homeless mission with his wife, Nikki Nilon (deceased), Throne of Grace, and ran a drug and alcohol mission for 25 years in Sarasota; that he never missed a chance to say hello to a stranger or sing Happy Birthday on everyone's voicemail. Father Jim never said an unkind word about anyone and had the patience of a saint. He lit up every room he entered and left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone he met. He was a good man.
He was a loving father to his two daughters, Susan Nilon and Lisa Redding, step-daughter, Robin Rash and sons-in-law, David Ferguson, Mike Kwapisz and Steven Pahos. He was the very proud grandfather of Quinn Nilon, Tara Redding, Sean Redding, Maggie and Will Armour, Willie Pahos, Lainie Pahos, and Shelby and Dan Kietzer and great grandfather to Henry and Caroline Keitzer.
