JACK ELLWOOD SADLER, 76, passed away April 12, 2016 at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Fairfield, AL. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary & Ellwood Sadler. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shari; a son Kirk Sadler & daughter in law Julie, of Austin, TX; a daughter Stacie Sadler Callaghan & son in law Mark, of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren Paige, Ethan, Brooke & Shelby; one sister, Ann Keyes of Houston, TX; nieces Karen, Lynn & Dana (deceased); nephews Bryan, Jeffery & Kevin. In 1962 he graduated from Auburn University with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He began his 28 year career with E. I. DuPont de Nemours in 1962 as a manufacturing engineer. In 1968, he was promoted to Planning Manager. He was transferred to Richmond, VA in 1970 as Planning Supervisor & promoted again to Manufacturing Manager. Next he was transferred to Wilmington, DE in 1973 as a Marketing Strategic Planner, Technical Services Manager & New Business Development Manager. In 1982, he was transferred to the Republic of Singapore, where he was Group Managing Director for the Far East & Vice President of DuPont Electronics Asia. In 1987, he returned to the USA. His last position before retiring from DuPont was Director of Sales for DuPont Electronics in Santa Clara, CA. After DuPont, he guided a number of companies. In 1990, he was President of Electromer Corporation-a start up company in Palo Alto, CA. In 1994, he was President of Philadelphia Mixers Corporation in Palmyra, PA & in 1999, he was President of Pro Tec Electronics in Sarasota, FL. Most of all, Jack was devoted to his family & giving back to those who were less fortunate. He was a member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, was assistant youth director & a Lay Eucharistic Minister. He & his wife took mission trips to Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic & Dodoma, Tanzania. He mentored today’s youth by participating as a Big Brother, the Guardian ad Litem Program-representing children in court & the JOY Program-where he counseled youth who had aged out of the foster care. Jack was a Special Olympics Coach for 15 years - Coaching Cycling, Basketball, Weight Lifting and Swimming. In 2009, he was voted Sarasota County Special Olympics Coach of the Year & Inspirational Coach. He was a volunteer at the Sarasota Memorial Hospital & at the Resurrection House-a day Homeless Shelter. He was a Substitute Teacher with the Sarasota County School system. Jack was an avid fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling, scuba diving, hiking, gardening & theater. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jack may be made to Special Olympics of Sarasota or St. Boniface Episcopal Church on Siesta Key. There will be a celebration of Jack’s life on April 30, 2016 at St. Boniface Episcopal Church at 10:00am.
